Rodriguez (FAEMS Porsche) takes pole in rain-soaked session, red-flagged twice

The qualifying session ahead of Race 2 was completely disrupted by the rain. After three days of torrid weather in Catalonia, violent storms broke on Sunday morning. The session of the GT Cup had to be interrupted twice with red flags, as many cars went off-track or spun. Some of the track sections, especially turn 11, were particularly treacherous.

Luckily, the ‘skating figures’ were harmless: only Ferter (LMR) gently touched the barrier, while Svepes, after a spin, was collected by Roda, also with a very gentle touch. Both the Lalborghinis of Privitelio (SVC) and Velasco (Aggressive) suffered apparent electrical issues.

In these conditions, only 8 laps were eventually performed, and it was difficult going for real qualifying times. Championship leader Ian Rodriguez (FAEMS) obtained the pole (1.59.182), with Fabio Babini (Tsunami, +0s995) in second. In second row will be Fran Viel Bugliotti (GDL, +2s038), the fastest in the  initial and most wet part of the session, and Cosio Papi (Ebimotors, +2s102).
