Longoni-Iaquinta (ZRS Motorsport) win again in thrilling finale

Ludovico Longoni and Simone Iaquinta doubled yesterday’s win by taking also Race 2 and becoming the heroes of the weekend. The ZRS Motorsport pair emerged in a dramatic and closely-fought finale, which saw both the top title contenders, the #7 HWM car of Jurriaan De Back-Paul Meijer score only one point and the #1 FAEMS by Ebimotors car of Pietro Delli Guanti-Matteo Luvisi none. With this result, Longoni-Iaquinta become a close third in the standings, where the three pair are covered by only 8 points, reopening the games for the title.

Jose Barros (AF Motorsport) finished an excellent second. Matteo Martinelli-Giacomo Pedrini, in the other FAEMS by Ebimotors car, crossed the line in third but a post-race penalty of 10 seconds for causing a collision dropped them to 12th.

Evgenii Leonov (Volcano Motorsport) inherited the P3 overall and yes, today he held the fort up to end to take the Am win ahead of Martins-Svepes (LMR) and Wijs-Van Zijvarden (HWR).

In Pro-Am, second success of the season for Fgani Salubre and Lars Zaenen (HWM), ahead of Stefano Zerbi-Matías Russo (SP Racing) and Alejandro Barambio-Borja García (GT Corse), who see their points lead in the class drop to 3 units with respect to today's winners.


THE RACE – Luvisi took the pole position, breaking the successful strike of 8 poles in a row of Paul Meijer, who founds himself in last row as his two best times are cancelled for track limits.

At the start, the young Italian takes the lead ahead of Babini, Stifter, Longoni, Pedrini and Barros, while at the end of lap 1, Meijer is already seventh. In a furious comeback, the Dutchman climbs up to second, shortly before the opening of the driver change window, during which Iaquinta passes Barros.

When all pit stops are done, Laurini is first ahead of De Back and Delli Guanti , followed by Martinelli, Iaquinta and Barros. In lap 20, Delli Guanti takes second from De Back, but soon after the safety car is out, as Mello and Alessandri are in the gravel, in separate incidents.

Laurini is very slow ahead of the restart, holding the entire group, with the consequence of some turmoil in the group, where De Back spins, dropping to last. Delli Guanti attempts to pass, but has also to defend from Iaquinta, who will end up passing both and taking the lead. The duel between Laurini and Delli Guanti gets more and more heated and the two end up colliding in lap 23. Delli Guanti will later get a 5-position grid penalty for next round.In the meantime, Barros has taken second from Martinelli and, in a another, separate incident, Giubergia, Pedrini and Pinheiro get tangled and stuck in the sand. The safety car is deployed, with the race ending under yellow.
