The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli welcomed the GT Cup contenders with rain alternating with sunshine, in a typical warm and humid late Spring day. The two free practice sessions were conditioned by the conditions, although the final part of the afternoon session eventually allowed full-speed action and good lap times.
It also allowed the championship leading HWM Motorsport Porsche of Jurriaan De Back and Paul Meijer to remain ahead of the pack, with a best time of 1.35.820, beating their Italian rivals, who until then seemed to have the time sheets under control. Ludovico Longoni and Simone Iaquinta (ZRS Motorsport) had been the fastest in the morning session, with a time of 1.36.029, which was not improved in FP2 and remained the second-fastest lap time of the day, 0s209 behind the leaders.

Championship challengers Matteo Luvisi and Pietro Delli Guanti (FAEMS Team by Ebimotors) led most of session 2 to eventually finish third (+0s740). They were followed by the fastest Ferrari, the Zanasi Racing car of Marco Zanasi and Andrea Belicchi (+0s767), the BiRace Motorsport of Diego Stifter-Lodovico Laurini (+0s787) and the fastest car in Am, the HWM Porsche of Hans Wijs-Rick van Zijverden (+1s431).
Marco Zanasi (Zanasi Ferrari) was the fastest in the Bronze test (1.36.463).
