De Back-Meijer (HWM), fastest in the heat in Ricard’s free practice

No changes in the headlines of the GT Cup Europe. The location and the weather conditions may vary from round to round, but the duel at the top is still between the same contenders. At Circuit Paul Ricard, under a scorching sun, championship leaders Jurriaan De Back and Paul Meijer, in the HWM Porsche, were the fastest pair of the day, stopping the clock in 2.06.970, and beating by 0s438 their most direct rivals, Matteo Luvisi-Pietro Delli Guanti (FAEMS Team by Ebimotors). Both pairs proved fastest in the first session.

Third in the combined results of the day were Giacomo Pedrini and Matteo Martinelli, in the other FAEMS by Ebimotors car, 0s919 behind. Theirs was the fastest time of the second session, ahead of Andrea Galli and the reigning co-champion Ian Rodríguez, in his return to the series, at the wheel of a third car entered by Ebimotors. The latter pair, fastest in Pro-Am, finished 0s928 from the top.

Fourth and top of the Am were Leandro Martins-Dieter Svepes (LMR Motorsport, +1s013), preceding Davide Scannicchio-Fabio Babini (Tsunami RT, +1s286), and the third in contention in the title fight, Lodovico Longoni, here reunited again with Niccolò Schirò (ZRS, 1s286).
